Privacy policy
Last updated: 25 July 2026
The short version: your audio is uploaded, separated, and deleted. We do not require an account, do not build a profile of you, and do not train models on your files. The advertising on our written pages is served by Google and may use cookies.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the VocaSplitter website at vocasplitter.com and the separation service it provides. It describes what happens to the audio you upload and what other information is processed when you visit. Contact details are at the end.
2. Audio you upload
Audio files are the only substantial data you give us, and they are handled as follows:
- Purpose. Your file is used for exactly one thing — producing the stems you requested. It is not used for any other purpose.
- Transmission. Uploads travel over an encrypted HTTPS connection to the processing server.
- Retention. The uploaded file and the generated stems are deleted after the job finishes. We do not maintain an archive of submissions. Download links are short-lived, which is why we ask you to save your stems during the session.
- No model training. We do not use your audio to train, fine-tune or evaluate any model.
- No human review. Nobody listens to your uploads. There is no moderation queue and no content review applied to files.
- No third-party sharing. Your audio is not sold, licensed or passed to anyone else.
Waveform previews are generated locally in your browser using the Web Audio API before the upload happens, so the visual you see on the preview screen never involves the server.
3. Information we do not collect
It is more useful to be specific about the absences:
- No account, username or password — there is no login.
- No email address, unless you choose to write to us yourself.
- No name, address, phone number or date of birth.
- No payment information of any kind. The service is free and takes no payments.
- No profile of your listening habits and no history of what you have separated.
4. Technical information processed automatically
Like any website, ours cannot operate without some technical information being handled:
- Server and hosting logs. Our hosting and processing providers record standard request information such as IP address, timestamp, requested URL, referrer and browser user agent. These logs exist for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults, and are retained for a limited period by those providers.
- Job identifiers. Each separation is assigned a temporary identifier so your browser can poll for its status and retrieve the results. It expires with the job.
- Local browser memory. The tool itself does not require cookies to function. Your file is held in browser memory for the waveform preview and released when you reset the tool or leave the page.
5. Advertising and cookies
The written pages on this site carry display advertising from Google AdSense, which is how the free separation service is paid for. There is no advertising on the processing screen or between you and your download.
Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve, measure and cap the frequency of ads, and in some regions to serve personalised advertising based on your prior activity. We do not receive your identity from this process; we see only aggregate reporting.
You can control this directly:
- Google's advertising controls are at myadcenter.google.com, where personalised advertising can be turned off.
- How Google uses information from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
- Industry opt-outs are available via optout.aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.
- Your browser settings can block or delete cookies. Doing so does not affect the separation tool.
In regions where consent is legally required before non-essential cookies are set, that consent is collected through Google's certified consent management notice, which appears on your first visit. Your choice can be changed or withdrawn at any time through the same notice.
6. Service providers we rely on
We keep the stack deliberately small. The parties that necessarily process some data on our behalf are:
- Our website host, which serves the pages and keeps standard access logs.
- Our audio processing provider, which runs the separation model and holds your file only for the duration of the job.
- Google AdSense, which serves the advertising described above.
These providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where that involves a transfer out of the UK or EEA, it is made on the basis of the safeguards those providers have in place, such as standard contractual clauses.
7. Legal bases for processing
For visitors in the UK and EEA, we rely on the following bases under the GDPR:
- Performance of a service for processing the audio you upload — you have asked us to separate it, and we cannot do that without handling the file.
- Legitimate interests for security logging and abuse prevention, balanced against the very limited data involved.
- Consent for non-essential advertising cookies, where consent is required.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. If you are in California, you also have rights to know what is collected and to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined there.
In practice there is very little for us to act on: we hold no account, and your audio is already deleted. To make a request or ask a question, email vocasplitter@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Children
This service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Because no account is required, we hold no age information. If you believe a child has provided personal data through a message to us, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
Traffic is encrypted in transit with HTTPS, and files are removed after processing, which limits exposure by keeping retention close to zero. No system is perfectly secure and we would not claim otherwise — but the protection here is mainly structural: there is almost nothing stored to lose.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of the page will be updated and the change reflected here. Continued use of the site after an update means the revised policy applies.
12. Contact
